Get to know Katie, Sr. Manager of Digital Services
Katherine (Katie) Ruane is Mather Economics’ most senior digital consultant who helps clients evolve their digital growth strategy. She oversees day-to-day operations and guides her team members to consistently deliver high-quality insights and creative solutions. She maintains trusted partnerships with her clients and brings a depth of experience to her projects. Katie never hesitates to go above and beyond by coaching her team and instilling her years of wisdom to the next generation of Mather consultants.
People-Centric Leadership
Whether you are her client, her direct report, or another member of the team, Katie is invested in your success. Katie goes above and beyond in her personal life too. She spends her free time developing her skills as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and is working towards her National Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification this spring. Whether it’s on an ambulance or in the board room, her passion for collaboratively solving problems inspires us as a leader. In her downtime, she can be found playing with her dogs, doing home improvement, or relaxing at the beach!
We asked Arvid Tchivzhel, head of Mather Economics’ Digital Services group, to answer some questions about Katie, and here’s what he said…
What makes Katie’s insights so valuable?
Katie is highly organized and instills a client-first consulting approach in the staff she oversees. She sets a high bar for success and delivers quality and value for her clients.
What incredible projects has she accomplished at Mather?
Katie led the delivery of the Google News Initiative LATAM Subscription Lab for the most respected brands in LATAM. The Lab was an 18-month, cohort-based effort to drive digital transformation via strategic direction, performance diagnostic, predictive analytics, benchmarking, and A/B testing. The program included eight Latin American news organizations: Nexo Jornal (BR), Reforma (MX), Estadao (BR), El Espectador (CO), Fohla de Sao Paolo (BR), Estado de Minas (BR), Clarin (AR), and LA NACION (AR) and led to a combined $30M ROI to the publishers and $10M impact from the implemented A/B tests. She also led the successful implementation of Mather’s subscriber-only (premium) content solution, which is driving significant growth in new subscriptions.
So you have traveled to South America together? Any fun moments you can share?
Well, we worked 12-hour days during our time on the GNI project to deliver insights and recommendations. After the work was done, we took some well-earned time off to hike up Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio to see amazing views, rented a yacht for the day, and had some amazing food and wine. It was challenging, rewarding, and a great time!
